Claire Devaney in Twickenham

Sophie Ellis Bextor sang at half time “You better not kill the groove “ But by this stage the groove was well and truly killed. But there was more to come.

11 mins in and England leading 12-0 had set the tone. By half time ireland were 38-3 down and people  were asking could it get worse?  The resounding answer in the 2nd halfway YES.

England racked up another 50 point score on us with the only saving grace been a justified penalty try awarded to Ireland for the opposition pulling down the maul on their own try line, this also resulted in a yellow card which our ladies couldn’t capitalise on. Dowe and Kildunne were running  riot on the pitch and cutting open our defence left right and centre

How they picked the player of the match between these 2 ill never know as both were amazing. I happened to be sitting beside 2 members of the Kildunne family who were beaming from ear to ear on the announcement and you could see the pride in their faces.

What you could see from the stands was the vast gulf class between ourselves and the English ladies. Is it too big to close? What do the irfu have to do to get us to play against the best of the best without a  cricket score line at the end ?

Question is where to from here?. Well my answer is Ravenhill on Saturday at 2.30 pm to again support our girls in green who are giving it all  but are they getting the support from the national organisation?
