Well well well I think a few folks didn’t see this coming even the RTE pundits were playing down Munsters chances prior to kick off.
It was a slow initial burner this one as the first 15 odd minutes produced little or no attacking plays by either side.
Munster hit first with Shane Daly crossing the whitewash in the corner on the 19th minute just 3 mins after Murray missed a penalty kick effort.
However the Bulls had plans of their own and 6 mins later they responded through Elrigh Louw, who, despite the attention of Zebo and Nankivell, scored after some good sweeping moves. A penalty followed for the hosts to extend the lead to three points.
Munster didn’t back down and RG Snyman scored from close range and with Crowley converting the visitors hit the sheds 17-10 up.
The Bulls flew out of the traps in the second half with tries on 45’ and 49’ from Arendse and Grobbelaar respectively.
The Bulls seemed to be in the ascendency but this was Munsters day and Conor Murray was playing like a man possessed then Goosen was shown red for catching Craig Casey high in the 53rd minute.
Munster now a man up hit the edges and gaps were coming and Crowley saw just that, Crowley cross-kicked to Hodnett, who powered over for the score to make it 22-22 heading into the final 20 minutes.
Late on Conor Murray touched down in the corner to give Munster a great victory – final score Bulls 22 – 27 Munster
Accurate account there Mr Burke
