Leinster leave it late against determined Bayonnais
The four-time champions were made to work by some Bayonnais heroics as a late Sam Prendergast score was gifted Leinster a lifeline.
The Bayonne side’s resolute defence continued into the second half as Leinster’s frustration grew.
A yellow card for Herschel Jantjies had an impact for the hosts, with gaps popping up across the park.
It was on minute 56 that the Irish scored their first try of the afternoon when Dan Sheehan ran one in down the left.
Jimmy O’Brien had one ruled out soon after as Leinster were starting to warm up.
The Irish luck did eventually come good five minutes from the end as Prendergast scooped up a loose ball under the posts.
Max Deegan added another late on as the visitors achieved the win at Jean-Dauger.
Leinster top Pool 3 to secure the home knockout route while the Basques head out of the tournament.

Castres shine in Limerick for crucial win
It was a lightning start to the second half as Munster rushed to equalise through Thaakir Abrahams before Castres had one ruled out moments later.
The hosts then added another to their collection when Edwin Edogbo rolled over, setting up a wide-open final 20 minutes.
The pendulum was to swing again when Castres went over thanks to Geoffrey Palis. Enzo Herve then nailed the conversion to give his side a two-point lead.
Christian Ambadiang added another late on, but that only riled up Munster.
The hosts hit back following their late pressure two minutes from time to set up a tense finish.
But it was a lead the Castrais ended up seeing out, it’s a vital win for the French side in Round 4. All comes down to the RC Toulon-Gloucester to decide final standings.
