Today was our first outing with Guinness vs @DublinDogos at Terenure Rugby club and while the rest didn’t go our way we broke bread actually stuffed with food and had some beers which was well deserved for all the work done. With Club Debutants from Callum, Tim and Scott we are Back training, this Tuesday at 7pm (All newcomers are welcome, no experience needed). In the book Anonymous, Alicia Britt Chole, says “In the hidden seasons we are more familiar with being invisible than claimed” That to me Perfectly describes Pre-Season is all about. As barbaric as that may sound it is one of the first steps to building a squad of players for the season and years to come.
For the majority of people it’s the start of great intentions with the possibilities of Promotion, Selection onto the first team or even just some banter with the lads. Ideally. Players and coaches alike get a sheet of Foolscap Paper and sit down are right your goals for the season ahead, write some inspirational quotes on the page you can go to and read when things are difficult, fold the paper and put it in your wallet and then my favourite part that requires Choons it’s the Spotify Playlist By then WhatsApp groups are usually flying around about what lads are doing to get ready for the first session back of the season and the fines for the first person to puke ahhhh. Today wasn’t about that. It’s about lad being there for each other and a beer and food always heals the body.
Later, the opening game of Leinster League 1a main event between heavyweights Terenure verses our extended family St. Mary’s RFC. With last seasons finalists and the top try scorer last season for the Terenure’s maybe it was a case of the lions expecting the lambs to lie down but that wasn’t on the stars heart. Today’s fixture as favourites in a thrilling and highly charged Physical between old rivals.

Dave Chappelle used a African saying that’s very useful today is “Sometimes you gotta be a lion so you can be the lamb you really are” probably not the result that Terenure wanted so now I ask you the age old question, who are the lions and the lambs the end score by the way I hear you ask, well Mary’s Won 28 – 20 Great Start Boys.
