Dexcom Stadium in Galway is set for a massive rugby double-header this Saturday, 5 September 2026, offering fans a full day of action as squads finalize their preparations for the upcoming season.
Connacht Eagles v Ulster ‘A’ (2:00 PM k/o)
The afternoon kicks off with a developmental showcase as the Connacht Eagles host Ulster ‘A’.
- Testing Depth: This fixture serves as a vital platform for up-and-coming Academy talent and fringe senior players trying to catch the eyes of the coaching staff.
- Interpro Intensity: Even in pre-season, matches between provincial rivals carry significant edge, especially following recent high-stakes senior and women’s interprovincial clashes.
- Tactical Focus: Expect a fast-paced game where structures are tested, and individual match fitness is prioritised ahead of the domestic A-level calendar.
Connacht Senior Team v Ealing Trailfinders (5:00 PM k/o)
The main event features Stuart Lancaster’s senior Connacht side facing English Championship powerhouse Ealing Trailfinders in their final pre-season tune-up.
- Hansen’s Return: The major headline for Connacht is the return of Ireland winger Mack Hansen, who is back in full training and named to start after a long-term injury layout.
- Bouncing Back: After a tough pre-season trip to France which ended in a very narrow defeat against RC Vannes in added time , Connacht will look to establish rhythm and discipline on their home turf.
- The Ealing Challenge: Ealing Trailfinders consistently perform at a near-Premiership standard and view this trip to Ireland as a crucial benchmark for their squad. Former Connacht back-rower Conor Oliver will also make an emotional return to Galway in Ealing colours.
- Final Tune-Up: With the BKT United Rugby Championship opener against the DHL Stormers locked in for 25 September at Dexcom Stadium, this is Lancaster’s last chance to solidify his starting combinations.
Tickets for the double-header are available through the official Connacht Rugby Ticket Portal.
Season Ticket Holders will have received an email with a pass that covers both game.
