Connacht Eagles secured a comprehensive 59-0 victory over Ulster following a dominant attacking performance. The match began as a cagey affair, with both teams struggling to find a breakthrough during a scoreless opening 15 minutes. Connacht centre Sean Walsh opened the scoring by crossing for the first try, which out-half Dylan Curren converted to establish a 7-0 lead. Within two minutes, Connacht struck again through Daniel Ryan, with Curren adding the extras. The hosts then took complete control of the first half, as Sean Walsh and Daniel Ryan scored two more tries in quick succession over a five-minute spell. Three minutes before the interval, David Walsh crossed the whitewash to extend the advantage, leaving the halftime score at 35-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Connacht maintaining their high tempo. Ulster managed to create opportunities and went close to scoring on a number of occasions, but they were ultimately unable to convert their chances into points against a disciplined defence. Connacht expanded their lead further with tries from Charlie Keane and the replacement hooker (number 16). Curren then capped off his performance by scoring a try of his own, though he missed the subsequent conversion.
David Walsh rounded out the scoring late in the game, crossing for his second try of the afternoon to seal the 59-0. left to rue their inability to capitalise on their visits to the opposition twenty-two.
Speaking with Tim Allnutt , Head of Rugby Operations at Connacht, after the game he said that Eagles training with the senior team paid dividends and the intensity was evident.
